Realtor Jenny Merritt Shares Her Story of Surviving Breast Cancer

Cabot, AR: Crye-Leike Real Estate Services is proud to recognize Executive Broker Jenny Merritt of Crye-Leike Cabot for her recent participation as a guest speaker at the Cancer Survivor Retreat in Lakeview, Arkansas.

The week of March 23rd, Merritt joined Mission Director of Susan G. Komen, Arkansas Affiliate Karolyn Taylor, in fellowship with other breast cancer survivors and current patients for a weekend Cancer Survivor Retreat. During the retreat, Merritt shared her cancer story with guests and offered valuable information to help navigate and comfort those currently battling this deadly disease. An ambassador for the Susan G. Komen foundation, Merritt is often asked to share her story from the patient/survivor perspective in hopes to inspire, encourage, and provide valuable insight and information to those currently diagnosed with breast cancer.

"On June 19, 2014 I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductile Carcinoma. I had a double mastectomy a few weeks later and then went through three different types of Chemotherapy followed by nine reconstructive surgeries," said Merritt. "In 2016, my only sister passed away from Spindle Cell Carcinoma which had metastasized in her lungs. So, I take the fight against cancer very personally and it's very important to me that I can help patients and survivors in any way that I can."

A licensed Realtor for almost 20 years, Merritt admits she has always had a passion to help others. "I’ve had the opportunity to help clients with their real estate needs for almost two decades," said Merritt. "Whether it's helping someone find their dream home or offering words of encouragement to someone battling cancer, I have the heart and drive to help people, it is my passion."

"Jenny's drive, perseverance, and dedication to not only her real estate career, but life, despite all odds stacked against her, is an example to us all here at Crye-Leike that we should never give up and lose hope," said Harold Crye, CEO of Crye-Leike.
