Transferring to a New City? Relocation Professionals Can Offer Assistance
Jan Harbor, president of Crye-Leike Relocation Services.

Brentwood, Tenn. (June 29, 2016) – “Transferring to a new city because of a job opportunity can be overwhelming. When you combine that with the need to find a new place to live in an area you know nothing about – that is where a real estate company’s Relocation Division comes into play,” said Jan Harbor, president of Crye-Leike Relocation Services, as a recent speaker at the annual conference for the Relocation Directors Council, representing relocation directors and managers of Relocation Services Divisions of real estate companies from across the country.

Relocation Directors Council (RDC) is a network of over 200 relocation professionals who head the Relocation Services Divisions of leading real estate firms in the United States of which Crye-Leike Relocation Services is a member. The conference gave attendees the opportunity to explore timely issues impacting the real estate market and to address ways to best meet the needs of today’s buyers and sellers.

Harbor presented information on what buyers need to know about the housing market relative to their relocation. As a certified relocation professional (CRP), Harbor also shared insights on market and relocation resources available for clients so they can become better educated buyers able to make decisions when they find that perfect property. Such a relocation resource can be found online at

Harbor explained the process of how relocation assistance works. “The Relocation Division is there to assist transferees with learning about the local real estate market. A personal coordinator from the Relocation Division will contact the transferee and perform an initial needs assessment which provides pertinent market data,” said Harbor.

“The process of buying a home is then explained, from loan pre-approval to the importance of making good decisions in a fast moving real estate market.  After gathering information from the transferee, the coordinator will match a relocation trained sales associate who will help the relocating family find and purchase a home.”
