Memphis Realtor Robert Farris Completes Short Sale & Foreclosure Training

Memphis, TN., – As more and more real estate sales involve buyers and sellers dealing with properties heading for foreclosure or properties that have already been foreclosed on by the bank, many licensed Realtors have been forced to change their approach in order to adapt to this new ?traditional’ real estate transaction.

In order to better serve his real estate clients and save struggling homeowners from foreclosure, Crye-Leike Memphis Realtor Robert Farris recently completed all of the necessary training and coursework to earn his professional designation as a Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource Specialist (SFR) awarded by the National Association of Realtors.

“It has always saddened me to see a foreclosure that I feel could have been prevented,” said Robert. “I feel earning this designation gives me even more knowledge to help sellers that don’t know where to turn or who to call when they are upside down on their mortgage owning more than their home is currently worth due to reasons that are usually no fault of their own such as job loss.”

Since earning his SFR designation, Robert now feels better equipped with both the tools and ?know how’ to help sellers maneuver and negotiate the complexities of short sales as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities.

“Many sellers feel bad that they can no longer fulfill their loan commitments and obligations, and they don’t realize that their bank or lending institution does not want the property given back to them in the form of a foreclosure,” said Robert. “I would say that there is a high percentage of lenders that are appreciative and willing to help a distressed home owner with a short sale for their property as opposed to having them just walk away.”

Robert adds, “Assistance with a short sale is where Realtors like me step in and can really help homeowners facing foreclosure avoid a lot of loss with a short sale. Realtors who are certified short sales specialists are extremely knowledgeable about the process. In the past, I have helped many sellers avoid foreclosure by speaking on their behalf to the bank and also provided them with knowledge of some of the many short sale programs that are out there that they may qualify for.”

Now armed with his Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification, Robert is prepared to help qualify sellers, negotiate with lenders, limit risks and protect buyers. He has been trained to help sellers wade through the short sale process, discuss loan modification, and help sellers understand their best options when they are no longer able to make their mortgage payments. He is also certified to help clients with the purchase of a foreclosed property by advising them on the risks, help them avoid any pitfalls, educate them on the entire buying process and construct a winning offer.

“I hope to help many more families keep the American dream of homeownership alive and avoid a foreclosure by assisting them through the entire transaction of a short sale,” said Robert. “Many people have already relied on me for help with a foreclose, but I think even more people will rely on me and appreciate the knowledge I can give them that I acquired through earning my short sale and foreclosure certification.”

Robert adds, “It’s very rewarding to help someone avoid foreclosure by guiding them through a short sale and helping buyers purchase a short sale property will hopefully help that homeowner not to have to go through a foreclosure themselves which is a win, win situation for everyone involved.”

Since 1988, Robert has been a licensed Realtor in Tennessee. He is currently based out of Crye-Leike’s Germantown Forrest Hill Irene branch office. Robert assists buyers and sellers in and around Shelby, Fayette and Tipton counties. He specializes in all types of residential real estate sales in addition to working with investment properties, commercial properties, churches, land, condominiums, duplexes, short sales and foreclosed properties.

Robert is a full-time Realtor and a member of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, the Tennessee Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. He is a member of the Crye-Leike Multi-Million Dollar Club and a continuous top producer for the company and his branch office.

Robert takes great pride in continuing his education to better serve his clients and in addition to the SFR designation he’s also earned his professional real estate designations as a Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) and as a Certified Premier Properties Specialist (CPPS).
