BARTLETT, TN., – Great Gourmet Chili And Decadent Desserts were the cornerstones behind a great year of fundraising for United Way of Shelby County by Crye-Leike, REALTORS in Bartlett, Tennessee.  The office sales team of agents and employees, located at 2868 Summer Oaks, cooked-up and baked-up fundraising events to generate more than $800.00 in donations.

“It feels amazing to realize that by celebrating our friendships and our love for great food we can put it to good use and help others less fortunate at the same time,” said Stanley Echols, Campaign Chairman and Crye-leike Bartlett agent.  “We decided early on that with a little bit of work in the kitchen, almost everyone in the office could get involved, donate to United Way and make our 2008 campaign a success.”

The first United Way event for the Bartlett office was a Homemade Breakfast put on by several agents.  It raised nearly $100.00.  A week later, a Gourmet Chili Luncheon was held, further adding to the growing amount of money for United Way.  The 3rd and final event was a Decadent Dessert Auction featuring 13 cakes and pies.  Agent Dot Barlow’s Homemade Carrot Cake brought in the highest bid, a whopping  $75.00.

“We know who are the best cooks in the office and it doesn’t take much to encourage them to whip-up something good,” said Jan O’Grady, Campaign Coordinator and Crye-Leike Listing Secretary.  “Sales people by their very nature are competitive so when they realize bragging rights are on the line, they eagerly volunteer to cook and bake to win and in the process generate donations for United Way.”

Crye-Leike Bartlett managing broker and Auctioneer John Linthicum had his sales team in stitches during the Decadent Dessert Auction as he pushed to bring top dollar for the decadent desserts on the auction block.

“We all have our talents and tapping in to what you do best is the greatest way to help others,” said John.  “United Way is such a strong organization doing so much to help others. Here at Crye-Leike we find we become a strong team by joining in the effort.”
