GERMANTOWN, TN.- Crye-Leike, REALTORS is proud to support Agent Connie Lester is her efforts to raise funds for the First Annual Ali’s Cup Tennis Tournament to benefit families fighting cancer.  Connie is on the Executive Committee organizing the upcoming tournament to be held Friday, September 19, 2008.

The Windyke Country Club, TPC Southwind Country Club and the St. George’s Independent School are together hosting the First Annual Ali’s Cup.  The tournament play will be held at all three locations with a luncheon to follow at Southwind.  36 teams have registered for doubles team play and organizers are still seeking sponsors at the $100 and $500 levels.

“I became involved because Ali was my son’s classmate at St. George’s and because I have had three family members who have lost their lives to cancer,” said Connie.  “My mother always said to find something you are passionate about and use your passion to help others.  Since I used to play USTA Tennis for several years with Ali’s mom Nancy, I know what a caring group of women the Memphis tennis players are.”

The primary mission of Ali’s Way is to provide good and services to kids with cancer.  The programs available include: emergency financial assistance, an evening out on the town for families staying at the Ronald McDonald/Target house, video games, books, CD’s games and toys from the Ali’s Cheer Cart and breakfast delivered and served to families at the local Ronald McDonald House.

“One unique aspect of this tournament is that students in St. George’s class of 2010, which would have been Ali’s graduating class, are volunteering as ball boys and girls for each of the “doubles teams” playing,” said Connie.  “It’s an amazing gesture that will make all the players in this amateur tournament feel like pros and help to keep Ali in the back of our minds while we play.”

Ali’s Way, Inc. was inspired by the spirit and courage of teenager Ali Mills who fought cancer twice in her lifetime.  She passed away in April 2005.  Ali and her mom spent a lot of time in hospitals and in Ronald McDonald houses around the country and time and time again saw the unmet needs of families fighting cancer.

“Specifically we are raising money to bring in the Lollipop Theater,” said Connie.  “It’s a non profit organization that arranges showings of first run movies for children confined to hospitals.”
