MILLINGTON, TN., – Crye-Leike, Realtors congratulates Affiliate Broker Cassie McKenzie who has stepped-up to volunteer as the Event Chair for the Relay For Life event to benefit the American Cancer Society in Millington Tennessee.

This is the second year McKenzie has volunteered time to support the event.  In 2007 she was the co-captain of an office team dubbed “Crye-Leike Camping for a Cure” and helped to raise more than $1,500.00.

“My dad has always told me I can do whatever I want to do, and this is more of a “have to” situation,” said McKenzie.  “My dad has had cancer, and I haven’t? and I have to do this for him, for me, for my children, my grandchildren as well as everyone else’s dad, mom, sons, daughters and grandchildren.”

As she did in 2007 McKenzie, along with Crye-Leike associate Karen Thompson will share co-captain responsibilities for the office team along with McKenzie taking-on the Event Chair responsibilities for the larger Millington community Relay for Life event.

“I don’t want to have cancer and the way I see it, if I keep rising money to support the work that goes on into finding a cure then maybe I won’t get it,” said McKenzie.   “So while I sell houses, I will do everything I can to help raise money to make sure that happens, or rather doesn’t happen.”

McKenzie is a licensed real estate associate in Tennessee working with buyers and sellers in and around the Millington area.  She specializes in residential real estate with a focus on investment properties and first time homebuyers.  In 2007 McKenzie was named Rookie of the Year at the Millington branch office and the same year received the Crye-Leike, Realtors Team Club Excellence Award.

McKenzie is currently participating in Leadership Millington; over the summer of 2007 she played softball for the Crye-Leike Bartlett branch office to help raise money for Youth Villages and worked along side company founder and president Dick Leike on a Habitat for Humanity home building project.  She is an active member and for 2008 the Secretary for the Millington-Tipton Realtors Association (MTRA).  McKenzie is also a member of the Memphis Association of Realtors (MAAR), the Tennessee Association of Realtors (TAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

For 17 years prior to joining Crye-Leike, McKenzie was a Memphis Police Department dispatcher.
