NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR., – Crye-Leike, Realtors sales associates in the company’s North Little Rock branch office are reaching out this holiday to two very different but deserving groups that can always use a helping hand? U.S. military veterans and women in the Second Genesis program.

“Our efforts are for two very distinct groups of people, that frequently don’t come to mind as those needing a little extra holiday spirit this time of year,” said Shirley Roberts, Crye-Leike, Realtors sales associate.  “Our desire is to simply help all we can and encourage our fellow associates, clients, friends and neighbors to join us.”

Roberts is leading the effort at Crye-Leike to assist the woman in the Second Genesis program.  The non-profit agency is an outreach that provides housing and support for women who are non-violent offenders transitioning from incarceration back to society.  For Roberts, this is her 4th year supporting the project during the holidays.

“I hold this program dear to my heart because these women are trying to regain their families and return to society after making the wrong choices,” said Roberts.  “Second Genesis is there to give them that chance to be productive and contributing members of our communities again.”

Helping local veterans is also a focus at the Crye-Leike office, lead by sales associate Tammie Del Donno.

“The men at the Veterans Administration served our country to ensure freedom for us and our children, and they never seem to ask for much in return,” said Del Donno.  “What we’ve discovered is that many of our veterans are in need of very basic items like socks, coats and pants, and we owe it to them to make sure they don’t go without.”

Del Donno says some veterans have been in the facility for an extended period of time, unable to care for themselves or without family to look after them.

“We buy them what they want because these people call the VA home and we buy what they need for their everyday enjoyment in their day to day lives,” said Del Donno.  “Among the items requested the most are: towels, large under-bed storage containers, CD players or a specific CD, sweatpants, jackets, socks and house shoes just to name a few.”
