The John Goodwin Tower Award identifies those fraternity brothers who go above and beyond societal call, rewarding not just career work, but those individuals who have shown an extended commitment to their business, family, church, philanthropy and community activities. The dedication honored through this award is visible in the Crye-Leike? family of standards as well. Hard work, integrity, passion and respect are members of the core values of Crye-Leike? and are expected and encouraged in each of the 3000 sales associates throughout the Mid-South.

Hill was initiated into the first pledge class of the Epsilon-Pi Chapter of Kappa Sigma at the University of Memphis in 1951, assisting in the launch and establishment of the well-known Memphis fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1954 and went on to graduate from the renowned Harvard Business School. In addition to his two years of service with Crye-Leike?, Hill’s professional experience spans half-a-century and includes such accomplishments as executive with some of the top retail organizations nationwide; such as Macy’s New York and the Polo/Ralph Lauren Retail Corporation, including President/CEO of three retail chains.

The John Goodwin Tower Distinguished Alumnus Award honors non-volunteer alumni, recognizing brothers who “bring great honor to Kappa Sigma Fraternity, whether it is through service to his community, outstanding career work or other achievements,” according to the Kappa Sigma Fraternity

Web site. Established in 1995, it is presented annually to one recipient per district. The award is named in honor of John G. Tower, a former U.S. Senator from Texas who served on the organization’s Supreme Executive Committee for six years and as its Worthy Grand Master from 1971-73.

The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is a men’s college fraternity with over 11,000 undergraduate members on 234 college campuses in Canada and the United States.
