Upsurge in Sales Prompts Crye-Leike Franchise to Expand into Starkville, Miss.

Columbus, Miss. – Crye-Leike, Realtors, the nation’s 10th largest real estate company, has added another branch office to its franchise network.

Crye*Leike Properties Unlimited of Columbus, Miss., a franchise broker of Crye-Leike, has opened a second franchise office in Starkville, Mississippi, 28 miles from its Columbus, Miss. office.

The expansion of Crye*Leike Properties Unlimited’s business operations is exactly two years after joining the Crye-Leike franchise system in October 2002.

Crye*Leike Properties Unlimited is one of 20 franchises in the Crye-Leike franchise network. Memphis-based Crye-Leike has four regional hub offices in Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn. as well as Little Rock, Arkansas.

With the addition of its Starkville branch office, Crye*Leike Properties Unlimited will have a combined sales force of 24 sales associates who specialize in relocation and property management and market residential properties, commercial investments, farm land, river properties and multi-family units in Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha and Winston counties in Miss.

Co-owners Hilbert Williams and Rick McGill combined have over 46 years of real estate experience.

“The timing was right and the signs were there that our real estate firm should expand into Starkville,” said Williams.  “Broker South GMAC recently closed in that area which gave our office an opportunity to fill in the gap. The listing and selling real estate inventory in Starkville is twice the size of that in Columbus. So, we decided that if anyone was to be there, it would be Crye*Leike.”

Crye*Leike Properties Unlimited has experienced phenomenal sales growth upon entering Columbus, Miss.’ real estate market just two years ago. Crye*Leike reported $ 15.95 million in year-end sales volume for 2003, up 77.4 percent from $ 8.98 million through Dec. 2002. These 2003 figures represent Crye*Leike’s sales associates handling 220 closings, a 103 percent increase from the 108 closings reported through Dec. 2002.

Williams and McGill chose the Crye-Leike franchise system to gain a greater share of the market, said McGill. “We were ready to carry our real estate company to the next level. We were an independent real estate company for years and felt the Crye-Leike name would give us more exposure than other real estate franchises.”

Crye-Leike (, a full service real estate company for 27 years, is the nation’s 10th largest real estate company and the largest serving Tennessee and the Mid-South.  It has a network of over 2,850 sales associates and 79 branch and franchise offices located in 41 counties throughout a six-state southern region in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky and Florida.
