Crye-Leike’s Pat Sidebottom Helps Senior Citizens Make Life-Changing Decisions

Nashville, Tenn. – Patricia Sidebottom of Crye-Leike, Realtors has been named a seniors real estate specialist by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council. This distinction is signified by the SRES designation, a nationally recognized professional designation.

By earning the SRES designation, Sidebottom has demonstrated that she has the requisite knowledge, experience and expertise to counsel senior clients and to offer senior citizens the appropriate options in making life-changing decisions. As a seniors real estate specialist, Sidebottom helps senior citizens make wise decisions about selling the family house, buying rental property or moving into a senior community and other issues.

Sidebottom is a broker with over 24 years of real estate sales experience. She is affiliated with Crye-Leike’s Murfreesboro branch office, located at 2850 S. Church Street.

Sidebottom serves the real estate needs of buyers and sellers in Rutherford County as well as within the surrounding counties of Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Wilson and Williamson. She specializes in residential and foreclosed properties as well as senior and first-time homebuyers and is a member of the National and Tennessee Associations of Realtors.

“For seniors who have not bought or sold a home in many years, the real estate transaction process can be overwhelming,” said Sidebottom. “And that’s why I chose to specialize in this area of real estate.”

Additionally, today’s baby boomers are facing unique home buying and selling challenges as they segue into their senior years, she added.

“Did you know that today’s baby boomer is far from the typical real estate client,” said the Murfreesboro resident. “You know that many from this generation are experiencing the unique situation of becoming caregivers to their parents, while raising children and planning for their own retirement. They find themselves in need of identifying a real estate agent who can provide their parents with appropriate living options.”

The baby boomer generation, born between 1947 and 1964, is the largest demographic group now contemplating its senior years, according to a March 2004 report by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council entitled, “Baby Boomers: The Next Generation Seniors Market – Trends That Impact Seniors’ Home Buying and Selling Habits.” Those born in 1947 will be 57 this year, while the number of boomers and seniors will increase by 87 percent over the next 15 years. Last year, 41 percent of all home sellers were 55 years old or older. That number is expected to increase as more boomer homeowners become empty nesters, according to the report.

In addition to securing her SRES designation, Sidebottom has attained several other professional designations. She is an accredited buyer representative (ABR) who excels in buyer representation as well as holds the Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI) designation, which signifies specialization in residential and non-residential brokerage. She also holds the certified residential specialist (CRS) designation, the highest credential awarded to Realtors in the residential sales field.

The Senior Advantage Real Estate Council (SAREC) tracks the special issues and needs of senior property owners and provides education to real estate professionals who make the senior citizens market an important focus of their real estate business.
