Crye-Leike Sells its First Resort Franchise
Nashville, Tenn. – Crye-Leike, the largest real estate company in Tennessee and the Mid-South, has sold its first Crye-Leike resort franchise in the unincorporated community of Pickwick Dam, a resort town in Counce, Tenn., Hardin County, best known as a water sportsman’s paradise because of its close proximity to a 1,392-acre state park on the shores of the Tennessee River and Pickwick Lake which spans over 50,000 acres. Crye*Leike Pickwick Lake is Crye-Leike’s third franchise established in Tennessee and one of nine Crye-Leike franchises company wide.
Crye*Leike Pickwick Lake is co-owned by Marti Carsten, managing broker, and Addie Francis. The office, located at 25 Old South Road, Suite 110, held its grand opening on Thurs., June 14, 2001. Sales associates Jane August and Judi Bodgan, both of Pickwick, have joined Crye*Leike Pickwick Lake and will serve Hardin and McNairy counties in Tennessee and Tishomingo County in Mississippi. Its Web site is www.pickwick.crye-leike.com.
Resort residential home sales in Pickwick start at $300,000 with water frontage, notes Francis.
Industries that serve as major employers in this town of Counce with a population of approximately 4,000 include:
PCA Packaging Corporation of America, one of the nation’s leading container board manufacturers, has three business units headquartered in Counce (Counce Mill, Counce Woodlands and Wood Products) that employ over 800 people in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi; and,
Alliant Techsystems, manufacturers of large composite structures for the aerospace industry, is located in nearby Iuka, Mississippi, about 12 miles away.
Carsten, a 16-year residential real estate veteran, was attracted to a Crye-Leike franchise because of the growth in the area and her desire to own her own business. “The timing was perfect for me. I was ready to start my own business, I have a strong real estate background and Crye-Leike had just started offering franchises when I had joined Crye-Leike as a sales associate,” said Carsten.
“As a resident of Pickwick, I am witnessing the seasonal growth and potential of this area as a resort and recreational town. Shiloh Falls, a 900-acre development and golf course community, has served as a springboard for growth and development in this area.
“The state is in the process of completing the construction of a new conference center to attract corporate retreats. Pickwick is a happening place, a close getaway for residents in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. Our real estate office is proud to have such a respected real estate company as Crye-Leike become a part of our town’s development and growth.”
Pickwick is a retreat favorite for many Mid-Southerners because of the easy access from their hometowns. Pickwick is located 100 miles from Memphis, Tenn. and 145 miles from Nashville, Tenn. with Pickwick Lake converging at the Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama state lines. Hardin County has some of the best fresh water fishing venues in the world. Anglers from across the country flock to try their luck on game fish in Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River. Ranked as one of the top bass fishing spots in the United States, Pickwick is renowned for its small mouth and large mouth catches.
The area has a number of championship golf courses, including Shiloh Falls Golf Club, designed by U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate with a scenic signature hole at No. 15. Also minutes away is Shiloh National Military Park, the first major Civil War battle in the war’s western theater.
Crye-Leike has 54 branch and franchise offices in 26 counties and over 2,200 sales associates in a four-state Mid-South region: Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and North Georgia. Its Pickwick Dam, Tenn. franchise joins the growing list of eight other Crye-Leike franchise offices in New Albany, Oxford and Tupelo, Miss., Blytheville, Ark., and Decatur, Morristown, Monteagle and Kingston, Tenn.
Crye-Leike began franchising operations in 1999 as Crye*Leike Franchises Inc. (franchises.crye-leike.com), a real estate franchisor subsidiary of Crye-Leike, Realtors. The division focuses its marketing efforts on establishing franchises in smaller populated areas within Tennessee and those states surrounding Tennessee. “Franchises are currently located in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee, with future plans to expand into Alabama, Kentucky and Florida,” notes Randall Hall, national franchise sales manager of Crye*Leike Franchises Inc.
Crye-Leike (www.crye-leike.com) ranks No. 13 among the nation’s top 500 largest residential real estate brokerage firms and No. 8 among the nation’s 136 largest privately owned and independent firms, according to REAL Trends, Inc., the leading provider of information and analysis for the residential real estate industry. These rankings were based on Crye-Leike attaining sales of $2.9 billion and 20,406 closed transaction sides corporate wide in 2000.
