Crye-Leike to Hold July Quarterly Meeting in Chattanooga

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Harold E. Crye, chief executive officer of Crye-Leike, the largest real estate company in Tennessee and the Mid-South, will address the company’s 300 sales associates from the Greater Chattanooga area and North Georgia at its July quarterly meeting on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, 8:30 a.m. (EST). The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo-Choo, 1400 Market Street, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Quarterly meetings were concurrently held in Memphis and Nashville where Crye addressed Crye-Leike’s remaining 1,900 sales associates from Arkansas, Mississippi and the greater Memphis and Nashville areas.



Crye will reveal the company’s newest rankings as No. 13 in the nation among the 500 largest residential real estate brokerage firms and No. 8 in the nation among the 136 largest privately owned and independent real estate companies. The ranking was issued by REAL Trends Inc., the leading provider of information and analysis for the residential real estate industry. These rankings were based on Crye-Leike achieving 20,406 closed transaction sides among its 45 branch offices in 2000.

REAL Trends Inc. annually conducts this nationwide study, entitled the 2001 REAL Trends 500 Report, which is a compilation of leading residential real estate firms ranked by closed transactions and sales volume. Documented by outside accounting firms, the survey represents the most comprehensive collection of data assembled on leaders in the residential brokerage industry regardless of affiliation or ownership.



The company’s CEO will also announce the introduction of a new value-added service, Crye-Leike Home Services, the first of its kind for Crye-Leike customers and sales associates in Greater Memphis, Arkansas and Mississippi. Crye-Leike Home Services plans to further expand its value-added services within Crye-Leike’s Nashville and Chattanooga markets. No definitive time line has been determined at this point.

Crye-Leike Home Services is providing home buyers and sellers, free of charge, personalized service, convenience and savings for all of the activities and transactions associated with home purchases, sales and homeownership. The division has been operational for four months. From May 1 through May 31, 2001, it conducted a beta test with selected associates in the Memphis market. The new business model combines the power of the Internet with personalized service.

Crye-Leike’s home services coordinator will work with the customer to schedule all moving related activities and arrange everything from mortgage financing, home inspections and warranty services to purchasing appliances, making certain utility connections are in place and obtaining home care services such as remodeling, renovation and home repairs. Customers will be offered a choice of competitively priced products and services from qualified national and local suppliers. Crye-Leike home service coordinators also will track the status and records of all customers’ purchases and measure the savings that result from using the program’s national and local marketing partners.

Crye-Leike Home Services uses a unique transaction management software system and a national network, called Home-Link?, as the foundation for its new business model. Crye-Leike sales associates currently in Memphis, Arkansas and Mississippi are now able to offer their customers, free of charge, access to a network of home-and family-related services. “With the final result being a customer for life,” notes Crye.

Home-Link?, developed by real estate professionals and introduced by major residential brokerage firms, is headquartered in Shelton, CT. Crye-Leike is one of over 71 residential brokers in the United States and Canada licensed to use the Home-Link program.


Crye will also recognize the company’s real estate franchisor subsidiary, Crye*Leike Franchises Inc. (, and the strides the division is making to establish franchises in smaller populated areas within Tennessee and those states surrounding Tennessee. Crye-Leike franchises currently total nine and are located in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee, with future plans to expand into Kentucky and Alabama.

There are a number of recent firsts for Crye*Leike Franchises Inc.:

  • Sold Crye-Leike’s first franchise in East Tennessee in the county seat of Kingston, Tenn. Crye*Leike Rare Earth Realty LLC is located in Roane County. Two more East Tennessee Crye-Leike franchises have followed, Crye*Leike Roslin Realty in Decatur, Tenn., Meigs County and Crye*Leike Embassy in Morristown, Tenn. in Hamblen County. There are a total of five franchises in Tennessee.
  • – Sold Crye-Leike’s first resort franchise in the unincorporated community of Pickwick Dam, a resort town in Counce, Tenn., Hardin County. The area is best known as a water sportsman’s paradise because of its close proximity to a 1,392-acre state park on the shores of the Tennessee River and Pickwick Lake which spans over 50,000 acres. Crye*Leike Pickwick Lake is Crye-Leike’s third franchise established in Tennessee and one of seven Crye-Leike franchises company wide.
  • – Sold Crye-Leike’s third Crye-Leike franchise in Mississippi, Crye*Leike Wilson Realty, in New Albany, Mississippi in Union County.

  • Crye-Leike of Chattanooga, Inc. entered Chattanooga’s real estate market in December 1997. It has eight branch offices in the Greater Chattanooga area. Within Bradley and Hamilton counties, offices are conveniently located in downtown Chattanooga, Cleveland, East Brainerd, Hixson, Signal Mountain and Soddy-Daisy.
